Hello Bolton Mills Family and Friends,

After completion of the Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) for all residents on January 17th, there were additional COVID-19 positive cases added to our list. Before testing we were dealing with six (6) cases and now we have increased to eleven (11) residents that have a positive result for COVID-19. The link of this spread is in the dining room and is now moved throughout the building.

Continuing measures:

We will continue with the below measures from our last communication which include:

  • Daily consult with Peel Public Health and our surrounding IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) Team

  • All staff and external caregivers will need to rapid test before entering the building (2x week) and wear a mask at all times.

  • Continue with increased sanitization around the building- especially in high touch areas Isolation of Covid-19 positive residents and residents who are showing symptoms

  • Monitoring all residents for symptoms

  • Increased frequency of Hand Hygiene audits

  • Wellness team is in communication with residents' families (with confirmed positives)

  • PPE is worn according to provincial guidelines

  • Daily reminders to all residents about universal masking as a recommendation in public areas of the building.

New Precautionary Measures:

Effective January 19th - you will see the additional precautionary measures in the building:

  • For a minimum of 7 days, we will be shutting the dining room and we are offering insuite dining. All residents will be eating in their suites from an outbreak menu.

  • For a minimum of 7 days, we are shutting down all group activities and programing- this includes all concerts, outings and gatherings. Individual activities and programing will continue. Our team will be doing a lot of in suite visits and will support our lifestyle programing

  • Increased screening for residents

  • Lobby area furniture will be spaced out or taken away to support social distancing

  • Until further notice- we ask that no General Visitors to gather in the building. Essential Caregivers are still able to come in the building to care for loved ones, once screening and testing is completed.

  • Essential visitors are required to wear N95 masks and all protective equipment located at the front desk.

  • Residents who are free of exposure are encouraged to take essential trips in the community only

As you can appreciate, shutting down programming and activities is never fun.

We need to take these additional measures to ensure that the spread does not get worse. The sooner we shut it down, the sooner we get back to having a fun.

I will continue to update you as promised on the status of our outbreak. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
